St. Luke’s has a warm, intimate feel which makes wedding services very special. Not only that but the setting of the church with views over the Moorlands makes it ideal for photographs.
‘Can I get married at St. Luke’s?’ is a frequently asked question.
Qualifying Connections: To qualify for the calling of banns and/or the solemnisation of their marriage, at least one or both of the couple to be married must have a qualifying connections with the parish. This means that either:
a) the person concerned:
- was baptised in the parish or
- has been confirmed in the parish and an entry to that effect is in the confirmation register belonging to the parish or
- has at any time has his or her usual place or residence in the parish for at least six months or
- has at any time habitually attended public worship in the parish for at least six months
OR
b) that the person's parent has at any time during the person's lifetime
- has his or her usual place of residence in the parish for at least six months or
- habitiually attended public worship in the parish for at least six months.
OR
- that person's parent or grandparent was married in the parish.
Evidence of any of the above will need to be provided. If a person needs to attend public worship in the parish for at least six months, then this will have to be on a regular basis and they willl have to initial the attendance register in the church on each occasion.
Divorcees may marry at St. Luke’s, if they fulfil the legal criteria, above. However they must talk this through with the priest who will need to see the Certificate of Divorce Absolute.

At St. Luke’s we also offer the blessing of a marriage following a civil ceremony.
Renewal of Wedding Vows.
Often these are requested at times of a significant anniversary. Also this can be a time of renewal in a marriage.
